Just peachy

It's Friday! It's Friday and I'm feeling just peachy! Okay, enough of the bad humor. Sadly I think that's one of the reason's I love the Just Because Cards cartridge. I picked the peach cut to showcase today and used OCC13 sketch challenge for the format. Wow, this is #9 in the JBC series and I'm hoping to knock off quite a few this weekend so make sure to check back later. Remember, I'll be giving away all the cards I make in this series to 3 lucky blog followers. So if you like what you see than be sure to follow along!

On to the card...

This cut is a little tricky because the sizes don't correlate to the card size you want. I started cutting the peach at 5 1/4 inches and it was HUGE so 2 1/4 did nicely. For the word art I cut it using the fit to length button set at 3 inches which made the size 1 1/4 inches. Hopefully that will save some of you some wasted paper.

You can see here I used a green and apricot pen to highlight the peach as well as some lavender perfect pearls.
Okay so I've committed to using a cheap alternative to stamps and I don't know how long it will last... That's right, (or should I say write) using my little old hand to write the sentiments. I need to work on it because I hate seeing my printing but I'm much to lazy to fiddle with computers to generate them there. So if I don't have the perfect stamp, I'll do it myself!

This is the inside.

Supplies used : Cardstock: SU very vanilla, apricot appeal, green galore, bazzill bling, core'dinations whitewash Patterned: DCWV farmers market stack, Cricut, Just because Cards, Ink: green galore, apricot appeal, chocolate chip markers Bling: Ranger liquid pearls, prima flowers, SU ribbon, rhinestone brad, martha stewart punch, divine swirls folder.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Apple of my eye...

Happy Thursday! Wow, the weekend is so close I can almost see it! Everyone still has colds in our house but at least it hasn't translated into grouchy kids:) This card was inspired by the rainy weather we've been having. I've had this stamp and sentiment from amuse for over two years and this is the first time it's been pulled out. I made this one for sc268 over at splitcoaststampers. It's been so long since I've been over there. I used to frequent the forums like crazy but since getting my cricut the rubber has gotten a little dusty. It's been fun pulling out my stamps and getting messy again. In a sad way it's like reconnecting with an old friend...

Well after that, onto the card...

Supplies used: Cardstock: SU: Ballet blue, old olive barely banana, whisper white Patterned: DCWV Stamp and Sentiment: Amuse Ink: SU old olive, memento tuxedo black Bling: Ribbon from Michaels, buttons SU, copics, sewing machine
Onto my Just because Cards card. This cut is so freakin cute! I didn't change up a thing except for adding the scallops under the apple.

For this cut, make sure you turn your 8.5x11 cardstock into the landscape position and you can get two 5 1/4 cards out of your sheet. I used bazzill bling for the first apple layer and it really helps the leaves pop. I do find with this cart because you can't layer the phrases that they quite often need a little extra so I'm sure you'll be sick of the white gel pen when all is said and done with this series:)

Supplies Used: Cardstock: Georgia pacific white, SU rose red, bazzill bling, Patterned: DCWV, SU (apple paper totally rocks!!!) cricut and JBC marvy scalloped punches, signo white gel pen, elmers white paint pen.
Have a great day and thank-you so much for stopping by my little corner of the web!

A few days off but a layout to show for it:)

Sorry about the lack of posting the past few days but Chad has been out of town for meetings and the crafting time has been seriously slashed. I did manage to eake out this layout for the LID challenge on the cricut message board. I would recommend this sketch challenge if you like to scrap multiple pictures on a page. There's always two sketches and usually one can knock off quite a few pic's on one layout or spread.

The yellow prima got some spotty treatment courtesy of my pink passion SU marker.

The title background is cut from the Just Because Cards cart and the title is Alphaliscious.

The yellow button was actually a white one that got pepped up with a yellow copic. Love those things.
Supplies used: Cricut, cuttlebug, cardstock: SU (Sage Shadow, pink passion, close to cocoa) Patterned: K&Company, bling: prima and SU flowers, prima pearls, liquid applique.
Thanks and check back tomorrow for some new cards in my Just Because Cards series!

A Sunny Sunday

Happy Sunday All! It's beautiful here today and we're stuck at home and not a church due to a sick family. My oldest got it Friday and it's flowed through to the rest of the kids already:( Hopefully for the sake of our sleep it will pass quickly! DH was out for some birthday fun with his Mom last night so little ol' me was home all by myself. Just enough time to work on a few sketch challenges!

The first one is a trifold card for CPS#164. Unintentionally it also works great for Curtain Calls Act27 This is my first time finding this sketch blog and since I'm a SU addict, I'm sure I'll be visiting often.

Card size is an A9. The pictures never quite do it justice but the rose panel is glimmer misted and it is beautiful IRL.

Supplies: Cardstock: SU (Very Vanilla, Pretty In Pink) Ink: SU (chocolate chip, pretty in pink, old olive, mellow moss, cameo coral) Patteren paper: K&Company Ribbon: Michaels, Bling: Glimmer mist, Stamp Set and Sentiment: SU
The next Card is for the Card Patterns blog CC61. I kept it VERY simple. This is a great blog for card inspirations with a super talent design team.

Supplies: Cardstock: Georgia Pacific, bazzill, Ribbon: SU(green), Fabricland (ricrac) Punches: SU, Stamp: SU Ink: SU(pink passion, always artichoke) Bling: glossy accents.
Enjoy your sunshine everyone!

JBC #8 and some extras!

Happy Friday everyone! What a beautiful morning we're having in lovely Chilliwack BC. I have a few projects to share with you this morning. The first is from a card sketch in the go to sketches magazine from papercrafts. This is the perfect card not only for a man but also to use up your scraps. Could you ask for more? Super easy and fast!

Supplies: Cardstock: SU Patterned: DCWV, SU Rub-ons: SU

The next one is OCC12 sketch challenge. I just came upon this blog and I know it will become a fav!

What a cute sketch!
Supplies used: Cardstock: Bazzill, Patterned: DCWV, Swiss dots embossing folder, stickles, marvy punches, SU ribbon, Stamp Set: SU

And last but not least, my favorite of the day, and #8 in my Just Because Cards Series, the Sheep cut! How cute is he! I LOVE this paper I picked up from Reminisce, how perfect is it! I love, love, love it! Sad how a card can bring so much joy to my heart:) Hopefully some of you out there can relate!

Okay so this card is cut at 5 1/4 inches but the sentiment seemed to overwhelming for the card at that size, so I recut the sentiment at 4 inches. Much better. My sheepy got the royal treatment with some DCWV glitter paper.

I also wanted to pass on a little cricut tip for all who are maybe newer to their cricuts. I wanted to make sure I got two cards out of my 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock so in order to maximize my space, I used the fit to page function. I often use this when I want one image to be as big as possible on my card/layout but did you know you can use it for multiple images? So here's what you do...
1. Move your blade over to the top corner of your cardstock and press the set paper size button.
2. Press the cut that you want (in this case the sheep card base). As many times as you want out of that sheet. (in this case 2)
3. Your screen should look like this: (sheep)(sheep).
4. Make sure your fit to page button is on
5. Cut away! Your cricut will determine and cut the largest size possible for the two card bases on your sheet. I love this for not wasting cardstock.
Hope that helps someone and have a great weekend!

A busy few days...

Well the last few days have been busy studying for my personal training certification. I finally got some time to play in my craftroom. So the first 3 cards are inspired by the tuesday trigger at Moxie Fab World! The first two are also a part of my Just Because Cards Series. I didn't really like the layout of this one, not quite jazzy enough for me so from time to time, I'll be showcasing the cuts off the card in a little different way. Hope you enjoy!

The first one is the flower card#2 cut at 4 1/4. This is the max size of the matching envelope on a 12x12 mat. It is made as shown in the booklet. The colours are inspired by the challenge. Signo white gel pen and the swiss dots cuttlebug embossing folder complete this card.
This card showcases the same cuts in a little bit different way. I added a SU rub-on to complete it. I also highlighted not only the card base but the raised dots with the gel pen. All paper is SU.

Card #3 is a Stamping Bella image and SU sentiment. The circles from the trigger were pretty much the inspiration on this one. Paper is Basic Grey, DCWV and SU. Ribbon is Michaels and Stick pin is Making Memories. Copics to colour the image. Gotta love those!

The last two are featuring the Just Rad cut and this makes the seventh card to be finished off the JBC series. The first one is definitely a more fresh and clean look for this cut, perfect for a guy I think. I've had the bracket brads forever and finally got around to using them. I'm not sure what the cuttlebug folder's name is that I used but it just adds to the clean look.

And if you're still with me, here's the last one. I had this DCWV radish paper from their farmer's market stack that is PERFECTION for this card:) Some Martha Stewart glitter really helps the RAD jump off the page. This card and matching envelope is cut at 6 1/4 so it really makes a nice size card.
Remember if you want a chance to win 15 of these cards then become a follower and when I've finished the JBC series I'll be giving them all away!
Enjoy your spring afternoon:)

It's for the Birds...

Hmm, call me bird brained but I couldn't get birds off my crafting radar yesterday! Enough with the lame humor, I wish it got better than this but it really doesn't:) Okay the first card is for one of my latest sources of inspiration, the Card Positioning Systems blog this is for cps#163. The bird is from the DCWV spring stack from last year. Throw in a little SU patterned paper and you pretty much have a done card. Nothing to fancy. This was pretty quick. About 15min start to finish.

Nest or should I say next, (sorry I can't stop) I made Card #5 in my Just Because Cards series. I'm happy to say this one went off without a hitch. Everything was cut at 5". I did add the scalloped layers behind my little rooster gal with my marvy punches. I wouldn't go much smaller on this card because the title is pretty delicate. That's why I scrapped the "I for a pearl.

Supplies:
Something to crow about
Cardstock: Georgia Pacific, K&Company, DCWV glitter stack, SU
Bling:Queen and Company,
Marvy Punches
CPS card:
Cardstock: Georgia Pacific, SU, DCWV
Ribbon: SU
Bling: prima flowers, Cord button:Bazzill
SU corner punch
Thanks for following along!
Have a great night.

Just Because Cards Series #4

Who doesn't love a nice shiny red car! Here is #4 in my JBC series. I have to admit this one caused a lot of frustration. There is obviously a glitch on this key hopefully on my cart only. If I find more like this I may have to make a call to good old provocraft:) So this one's envelope cuts at 5 inches however, when I went to cut my card base and creative layers they were HUGE. So after some trial and error, I discovered that cutting everything at 3" will give you a card to fit into the envelope.

This is also a card I needed to think about who I would give it to in order to be inspired. Midlife crisis came to mind hence the red colour for the car. To bad it's not a convertable. On the inside I'll probably go with something relating to a large looming hill?

Supplies: JBC, paper:DCWV and SU, brads: SU, glossy effects, scotch foam tape.
Thanks so much and have a great Saturday night!

Randomness...

Some cards I worked on this past week...

This one is using the Go To Gals new sketch book. It has so many great ideas. I made this for my step-mom who's dad sadly passed away last week.

Supplies used: Cardstock: Georgia Pacific, SU (blue), DCWV for yellow, A Child's year cart for sentiment topnote, SU sentiment, white lace, yellow pearls

This next one I made for Moxie Fab Worlds Get Sketchy Challenge. The sentiment is Amuse and the stamp is a SU one colored with copics. Paper is K&Company. I cut the word bubble by hand. Lots of fun with this one.
Other details: Ribbon: SU, Martha Stewart Punch, SU cardstock, stickles and elmers self adhesive rhinestones. (Super cheap at Walmart

Thanks again for looking and I'm off for a day or two getting some studying done!

Just Because Cards Series #3

It's a gloomy BC day today and the kids and I are both feeling a touch cranky. Nothing like a little an early quiet time to get me into my craft room. I don't know if this happens to any of you but I am so nerdy that I was up laying in bed until 1am thinking about this card. Honestly, I should have just gotten up and made it! Despite already having an idea of what I was going to do, this one took a while to sort out.

On to the details for all who are as "nerdy" as me! This card cut at 4 3/4 inches and I was able to cut the envelope and the upper shift layer out of one sheet of 12x12. The patterned paper is the life's journey collection by K&Company. Can't say enough about how pretty is. I cuttlebugged the scalloped layer and sanded it down to show the white core. Instead of cutting the top layer of the tree I used my crop-a-dial and punched some holes to add the eyelets and brads and eyelets. The finishing touch was done with my sewing machine and some stickles.

Honestly how awesome is that paper and the cut of the envelope! Thanks for looking and have a fantastic day!

Just Because Cards Series #2

Welcome to card #2 in my Just Because Cards Series!

Lots of fun to be had on this one and a few tricks learned along the way. First off, you have to cut the envelope first on this cart (much like the wild card cartridge). The largest size on the 12x12 mat is 5 inches for this particular cut. The great thing is though, if you cut the envelope, unload your mat, flip it, then reload you can cut two envelopes out of your one sheet of cardstock. Clear as mud? The other trick I found was that when cutting your card base, load your paper in a landscape mode as opposed to portrait, you can get two bases out of your 8.5x11. Just a little paper saving advice for everyone:)

So it might be just me but this cut screamed slider card to me so I made a few modifications to get the desired result.

My ATG gun is my adhesive of choice and because it's 1/4 inch wide I cut the shift function of the card base (i.e. the slider portion) at the original 5 inches but then trimmed it by hand a little over 1/4 inch on the side and off the bottom. I then sealed the bottom and right side with my ATG and left the top open.

The paper I used was a combination of SU's retired patterened paper and DCWV's glitter stack and green stack. The "grass" was hand cut, as was the layered polka dot piece on the base. I have to say again how impressed I am with how the small phrases are cutting. Just like butta!
The glitter paper is just perfect for this cheery card and my elmers white opaque paint pen had a turn highlighting the sentiment and perimeter of the card.
Thanks for following along and have a wonderful night!

Just Because Cards Series. Card #1

So here's the scoop. I just picked up the Just Because Cards cartridge at Michaels this weekend and have decided to challenge myself to make every card on it. I love making and giving cards but i'll admit, some of these ones just don't speak to me. So i'm going to do my best to make them my own. I hope you'll join along for the fun. Anyways, on to the details...

This card was cut at 5" which left me in a predicament when it came to making the envelope. Unfortunately a 5" doesn't cut on the 12x12 mat. Luckily I had a piece of poster board and a 12x24 ,mat to save the day.

I was a bit sceptical about how the smaller pieces would cut, especially in the title, but they were no problem at all. I'm also very fond of my patterned paper and not loading them on a card is difficult for me. That's one of the reasons, I appreciate my cuttlebug folders. They are a great way to add visual interest.
Anyways, onto the very first card in my "Just Because Cards" series.

I used a brush tip marker to outline the letters to help the tone on tone pop a little more. A green jewel for the "i", signo white gel pen for the spots, and brown dye ink for a little extra distress.

The truck got the royal treatment with more white gel pen, and glimmer misted flowers.

Supplies used: cardstock: SU and dcwv, swiss dots embossing folder, (forgot the flower one), signo gel pen, SU marker, glimmer mist, SU ribbon, SU flower punch
So why should you follow me along this journey? Well at the end of my adventure with this cartridge, I'm going to choose a few lucky followers to recieve a selection of these cards. So if you like what you see, become a follower and let's have some fun!

Trigger Tuesday

Hmmm, I seem to be on a role this week. I made this last night for the moxie fab world's Trigger Tuesday challenge. I have to admit, I didn't veer to far from the original inspiration card but I'm really happy with the end result. Why mess with a good thing in my opinion. Instead of the ribbon running through the front of the card, I did 1x1 squares. I've been dying to use my little flower stick pins from making memories and this one went perfectly with the card. Thanks for looking!

Total time: 20 minutes
Supplies:
Cardstock: white: georgia pacific; kraft: SU
Patterned: K&Company and SU
Sentiment: SU
Embellishments: Sewing machine; My Minds Eye (brad); Making Memories (stick pin);Michaels (ribbon); Prima (flowers

CPS #161 part 2

Here's the 2nd one. I have to admit, I LOVE this one. The colours are pretty washy on the screen, but it's very rich in real life. This will be DH's father's day card from my sweet Sydney. I'm all over A Child's Year cricut cartridge lately, just can't seem to get enough of the silhouettes. For this version, I flipped the sketch on it's side. Have I mentioned that I adore DCWV paper? I just love the thickness, patterns etc... These papers are from the new natural stack. It has so many papers just begging to be used on men's cards. Hope you enjoy!

Sorry about the close-up. Not sure why it's on it's side.

Total time: 25 minutes
Supplies:
Cardstock: Ivory naturals SU
Patterned: DCWV natural stack
Die-Cut: A child's year and cricut : provocraft
Sentiment: SU
Ink: Tuxedo Black: memento, Creamy Caramel: SU

CPS 161 part 1

So with a little time this weekend I was able to put together two cards with the card positioning systems sketch 161. The first one is a feminine bling fest. To spice up the primas and the sentiment, I added some stickles. I found this sketch a little challenging but am overall pretty pleased with the results.
Total time: 20 minutes

Supplies:

Cardstock: Yoyo yellow SU
Patterned: DCWV 2009 spring stack, yellow glitter papet
Stamp: SU
Ink: yoyo yellow, cameo coral, real red SU/ tuxedo black memento
flowers: prima
bling: prima
stickles: ranger industries

Happy Thursday!

So after a few cards, it's time to get a layout done. With three kids it's easy to get behind. I try to get one layout in a week but more often than not, I fail. One of the best ways to stay motivated with your scrapping is to participate in sketches. Today's layout was completely to the letter of this creative scrappers challenge #97. Usually I like to take a little creative liscense but it really was perfect for my picture. This is my first time doing a sketch with them but I know it will be a favorite site soon!

This is of Cade from last summer. I picked up the ricrac at fabricland for 80 cents a meter. It's so fun and I had to resist breaking the bank on all the cute fabric trims!

I also have people quite often ask how long it takes to create my projects so I've decided to add a time spent stat just for fun:)

So here's the supplies:

Cardstock: Whisper White SU, pumpkin pie, basic black, brilliant blue, green galore
Patterend: DCWV All Boy Stack
Buttons : SU
RicRac: fabricland
Rubons: SU
Scalloped Square and title: A Child's Year and my cricut of course!
White Gel Pen
Start to Finish: 35 minutes
